1879 Tennis&Squash Club Closed until further notice due to Covid 19 restrictions - 5th January 2021
Dear members, I am very sad to say that the club has to close from midnight tonight following Boris Johnson's announcement tonight. We were hoping that we would be able to keep the solo and family play open but unfortunately this is not possible. The government and subsequently the LTA had regulated that we cannot use the club from midnight – either the clubhouse or the outdoor facilities. The courts and clubhouse will be locked until further notice from tomorrow morning (5th January). Please do not come down to the club hoping to be able to use the facilities. We will closely monitor the news and the results of the LTA appeals to re-open outdoor tennis but at this stage everything points to the club remaining closed at least until mid to end of February. We will send you regular updates as new information emerges. We will be organising the AGM which was postponed at the end of last year. We will hold this virtually via Zoom and will send a date as soon as possible. This will be hopefully in the 3rd or 4th week in January. An agenda will be sent out prior to the AGM and if anyone has any urgent topics for discussion please send them to me in advance. In addition to the status of the membership, facilities and the last 12 months we will discuss further potential projects which we have been discussing over the last 12 months – i.e. Padel, the new knock up wall and a number of other topics. Please stay safe. I hope to see you down at the club again as soon as we possibly can.
